Fantastic article, and never apologize for the length. If it’s good, I will read the entire thing.💜

I’m amused by all of these so-called cores. But it is fun to look at them and think of how I can interpret them from what I have in my wardrobe and what I can find in the thrift store. Thanks so much for all of your hard work, Kayla!💕

Ok, so you're telling me I can finally dress up in medieval wear and be considered chic?! Hell ya. I swear there must have been so inspiration from all the fantasy books too. I'm so ready for this, thanks for sharing!

Danteism - yes! I actually wrote about him recently, Simone Rocha and Gucci had some Dante-ish looks in their recent collections (bonnets and cardinal red). I love that you pointed out the animal/taxidermy elements, and modern ties to horror.

Also, loving all the analyses coming out about Pinterest Predicts -- excited to dig into that Chainmail as Pre-Capitalist Yearning piece.

Oh I love it! I haven't decided if I want to read purgatorio and paradiso yet. I've heard they're not as good as inferno.

Thank you for this incredible deep dive! I like Pinterest Predicts, but agree on the historical data/self-fulfilling prophecy aspect. Especially since their data points reference a two year period, which can smooth out drop offs in search. And then the spikes that occur after the annual report is released, which helps them to quote their accuracy rate a year later. PP trends aren’t groundbreaking in a way that the forecasts from agencies like WGSN are - it’s more on the mass end where WGSN covers innovators and early adopters. I like to use PP for data points and context about how far along a trend is in its cycle, and they do a great job making it feel visual and immersive.
