trying to have a Barbie moment off a dv movie is about what I'd expect from Plantation Barbie (credit to twitter for that) and her smarmy reddit husband

I love florals and the proof is all over my outfits from last winter but you know how animals stop drinking from a stream when they realise some other animal's taken a shit in it upriver? That's basically her effect on me, I need the taint to lift before I can pull out a floral print again.

he is such a smarmy reddit husband - i don't get the hype around them at all! your analogy around animals shitting upstream has positively made my day and i hope you can rekindle your love of florals soon!

lol thanks! (and I don't get the hype either, it seems manufactured like her 'style icon' status)

I think fashion-wise, everyone's got celebs or types of people who'd be the animal shitting upstream in the sense that their adoption of a look would cause you to temporarily dump it/if mass popular and uncool enough, can kill the scene associated with that look altogether. Like the opposite of Bella Hadid? I'm seeing substack fashion 'wisdom' to the effect that this is just snobbery and ~internalised misogyny~ and you didn't really like the thing but I disagree and think it's part of a trend cycle, even 00s Sienna Miller shelved her boho once it reached high street saturation and one can't argue she didn't really like it. Anyway thank you for indulging my yakking!

Def agree, its like when you see something you really like and then SHEIN does a dupe :(

I wonder who my animal shitting upstream is. Maybe Taylor Swift but can't say I enjoy much of what she wears anyway - I wrote this about my feelings on her style https://hautegarbage.substack.com/p/is-taylor-swift-actually-unfashionable
