Fossilized shark teeth & vintage Miu Miu - Depop finds that got away in 2024
Nothing haunts us like the second-handies we didn't buy because they live eternally in our likes and saves.
G’day hautties!
Just a quickie as I’m about to get an iron infusion so I should be re-energized with a new zest for life next week.
Depop recently released its 2025 Trends Report, discussing how next year consumers will be remixing aesthetics in response to the whiplash from endless cookie-cutter micro trends. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of this report before it went live as I helped work on it—all the data points included from EDITED were pulled by yours truly! Check it owwwwt.
In case you haven’t been tuning in for my Silly Little Outfits series, I’m a massive Depop girlie. And since we’re in the thick of the Wrapped season, I was initially planning on detailing all my second-hand purchases from the app in 2024.
However, I’ve seen more and more folks commit to buying nothing or nothing new for the year. While I think New Year’s resolutions and goals in general are bullshit, this is a great mindset to have. Though I’d say 80% of my fashion purchases in 2024 were second-hand (I got a bit carried away in Japan), I’m still constantly scrolling Depop, believing I’m only one piece away from being fulfilled sartorially. Just that one Marni shirt will make me the best version of myself, and I’ll never need another article of clothing again. Of course, until the next listing of vintage Miu Miu shoes comes along.
I was going through my Depop likes and saves tab and looking at all the things people with slicker fingers beat me to buying. The fragments of the outfits I could have been presenting to the world in. Yes, there is regret, but buying stuff, whether new or second-hand, doesn’t make you more interesting or fashionable, and I guess my bank account is grateful for it. At least this is what I try and tell myself.
So, this is what I’ll be wrapping up instead. Buckle up gang, here’s the best of the Depop finds that I loved and lost.
First, a weekly reminder that this newsletter is free for all. Though if you’ve learned something, been inspired, or had a laugh (with me or at me idc), you can keep the spirit of Haute Garbage alive by buying me a flat white for 2021 prices. Thank you for all of your support!

I can’t commit to not buying anything new in 2025 as we’re buying an apartment (which is brand spanking new), though we will try to furnish it with as much second-hand stuff as possible. This very grown-up purchase will probably drain all my wardrobe finances for the foreseeable future, in this economy and whatnot, so expect next year’s list of Depop pinings to be longer. I’d say Silly Little Outfits may get more repetitive, but there’s still so much to show you all - don’t go anywhere!
I only like uncool cheugy stuff that sits in my likes page forever or until the seller desperately lowers the price 😅. I usually reason if someone else bought it they must have wanted it more than me so fair play. On the other hand, nothing gets to me more than being sniped in the last 10 seconds of an eBay auction...
brilliant idea. you are so brave, it causes me physical pain to look back on the treasures i’ve missed
